PHILADELPHIA,
PA (USA) –23 June 2022 -- The
Walter-Penner Group which recently purchased the Denver Broncos, a National
League Football team, for a record breaking US$4.65 billion dollars is
comprised of members with headline-grabbing names – Mr. Rob Walton, the heir to
Walmart Mr. Rob Walton; Mr. Walton’s daughter and son-in-law Mrs. Carrie Walton
Penner and Mr. Greg Penner; and .prolific investment guru, influential national leader in corporate and
civic organizations, and African American Ms. Mellody Hobson. While much is known about the Walter Penner Group,
very little is known about the reclusive first African American Lead Purchaser
whose history making higher bid attempt for the Denver Broncos has helped to
open the door to diversity and inclusion in the National Football League. Until now, numerous members of the team that helped
bring the first African American lead
purchaser’s historic higher bid attempt to purchase the Denver Broncos to the NFL have been equally enigmatic. While maintaining a low profile, Pastor Dr Garth G. Gittens; The Honorable
James M. DeLeon; Messrs. Markham Burton and John Hardy; and Allen L.
Rothenberg, Esquire vigorously worked to help a reclusive African American
billionaire throw his hat into the National Football League’s “team ownership
ring” as the first African American lead purchaser of the Denver Broncos
through an attempted bid which was much higher than the US$4.65 billion price
tag paid by the Walter Penner Group for the football team.
“Bringing the higher but late arriving
bid for the Denver Broncos to the attention of the NFL which occurred on the
heels of the African American Sports Investment Consortium’s 15 April 2022 announcement that it had secured an African American lead
purchaser -- the NFL’s first African
American leader purchaser – was unquestionably a team effort. As a
result of the vigorous efforts of among others, Pastor Dr. Garth G. Gittens,
Markham Burton, John Hardy, and Allen M Rothenberg, Esquire, the African
American Sports Investment Consortium, with the African American billionaire at
the helm, was poised to shatter the NFL’s ‘ownership glass ceiling.’ I would like to thank Pastor Dr. Garth G.
Gittens, Markham Burton, and John Hardy
for the efforts they expended on this project.
To Allen L. Rothenberg, Esquire, I am extending my very special thanks. Finally,
I would like to extend a special thanks to our Publicist Team –AOI Events & PR, Bobbi Booker,
Danielle Paige Jeter, and Diane Sears,” remarked James M.
DeLeon, a member of the African American Sports Investment Consortium and a
retired highly respected jurist in the
Municipal Court Division of the Court of Common Pleas of the First Judicial
District of Pennsylvania whose career spanned five decades.
