The Association Nationale De Lutte Contre Le Trafic Des Jeunes (Lutra-Jeunes) issues a “Call To Action” to our International Partners, Friends, and Philanthropists to assist in rescuing and rehabilitating souls in West African nations who have been abused by or are victims of the current human trafficking which is feeding the sex markets of Europe and/or America.   The traffickers’ routes are the porous borders of West African nations via the Mediterranean Sea, Libya, or North African nations.

For the past five years we have rescued survivors and victims of human trafficking, but lack housing or a “shelter home” for them.  As a result, our only option has been to send survivors and rescued victims of human trafficking to government-owned shelters.  These shelters do not provide adequate living space for the rescued survivors and victims of human trafficking and sufficient food.  There is a language barrier as the rescued survivors and victims are English speaking and the personnel who operate the government shelters are French speaking.   These circumstances cause many of the rescued survivors and victims of human trafficking to run away from the government shelters.

Objectives

We have resolved to build a rehabilitation center that will meet international standards.  Rehabilitation center will be equipped with a kitchen and departmental vocational equipment.  The departmental vocational equipment will be used to train and empower rescued victims and survivors of human trafficking.  Additionally, a computer cyber system will be installed in the rehabilitation center for the dual purpose of (A) training rescued victims and survivors of human trafficking; and (B) offering computer cyber system services to other interested groups and NGOs or less privileged individuals who will receive computer literacy training.

 Further the Association Nationale De Lutte Contre Le Trafic Des Jeunes (Lutra-Jeunes) resolves to:

      Conduct awareness activities in the context of prevention;

      Develop a community approach;

      Ensure the psycho-social care for underage victims of trafficking

      Implement the rehabilitation of girl child victims of trafficking.

Our Work

      We have identified the several porous borders and different routes used by the traffickers; their recruiting Burkinaground; their deposit ground; and transit routes

      We assist the national police and international organizations in apprehending the traffickers

      We have been able to rescue the survivors or victims of human trafficking; provide them with shelter with the purpose of rehabilitating and empowering them vocationally (e.g., cosmetology, tailoring, fashion design, jewelry design (beads), interior design, computer literacy, entrepreneurship, etc.)

Immediate Need

      Housing for rescued survivors and victims of human trafficking

      Construction of “shelter homes” in Burkina Faso for rescued survivors and victims of human trafficking

      Funding – Total contract amount for all design and construction services for construction of housing/”shelter homes” is estimated at US$350,000 – US$500,000
