Dr. Guernsey taught creative writing and American Literature for twenty-five years at Eastern Illinois University. He has also taught at William and Mary College, Johns Hopkins University, the University of New Hampshire, and Virginia Wesleyan College where he was the Poet-In-Residence. He graduated with honors from Colgate University and holds Master of Arts degrees from the University of Virginia and Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Guernsey received his Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire where he authored a dissertation on tools as metaphor in Robert Frost's poetry.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (USA) -- Mr. John D. Evans, the Illinois (USA) Regional Coordinator for 2010 International Men's Day (http://www.international-mens-day/) has disclosed that Dr. Bruce Guernsey, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Eastern Illinois University (http://www.bruceguernsey.com/) has agreed to serve as the Poetry Final Judge for the Illinois Statewide Writing Competition which is being orchestrated in observance of International Men's Day 2010. International Men's Day will be observed worldwide on Friday, 19 November 2010 under the theme "Our Children ... Our Future" and celebrates the 48-hour partnership that International Men’s Day has with Universal Children’s Day, which is celebrated on 20 November 2010 and is endorsed by the United Nations.
