PHILADELPHIA, PA (USA)   -- The deadly shootings involving police officers of two African American men -- Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minneapolis along with the  shooting of 12 individuals by a lone gunman, five of whom – police officers succumbed to their wounds in Dallas, Texas – together with massive demonstrations in major cities across the country protesting the deaths of Messrs. Sterling and Castile has rocked the nation.  Many Americans are asking themselves: “What is happening to our country? Where are we headed?”    The tragic loss of lives is moving many Americans to engage in deep soul searching about violence, race, and community-police relations.   A solutions-based dialogue on race, violence and the police in the form of a national teleconference will be hosted by the USA International Men’s Day Team on Sunday, 17 July 2016 at 3:00 P.M. (New York Time).  To participate in the national teleconference, dial 712-775-7031 and use the access code of 803 828.

Some of the questions that the national teleconference will explore include:

Would the improvement of relations between the police and the African American community help to ensure that there are no more Alton Sterlings and Philando Castiles?

What role does race play in the decision making of police officers?

How do we build trust between the police and the African American community?

Should “ethnic sensitivity” be a mandatory component of all training programs for police in the United States?

How do we bring healing to our communities, our nation, and our world; transcend divisive boundaries; and collaborate to create trust and understanding?

The solutions-based dialogue on race, violence, and the police will be moderated by Mr. Gregory Johnson, Chair and Founder of the Global Parenting Network and Ohio (USA) Regional Coordinator for International Men’s Day.   Featured speakers on the national teleconference call include:
