ODETTA WRIGHT, VIRGINIA (USA) REGIONAL COORDINATOR CONTINUES LEADERSHIP ROLE FOR 2013 INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (USA)28 JANUARY 2013 -- Actress, playwright, film producer, Co-Founder of Father Figure Enterprises, LLC (www.fatherfigure.org), Virginia (USA) Regional Coordinator for International Men’s Day, and Member of the USA 2012-2022 International Men’s Day Ten Year Plan Committee, MRS. ODETTA WRIGHT, will continue her leadership role in the global observance as the 2013 International Men’s Day Virginia (USA) Regional Coordinator.

Mrs. Wright’s leadership role in 2012 International Men’s Day resulted in the development of a collaboration between the United States of America and Botswana by helping Ms. GENEUVIVE TWALA, the Botswana Coordinator for 2012 International Men’s Day, launch the “Men of Tomorrow” Rites of Passage Mentoring Program in Botswana on 19 November 2012. The “Men of Tomorrow” Rites of Passage Mentoring program was launched in the United States on 2011 International Men’s Day – 19 November 2011 as a result of a partnership between Mrs. Wright and the New Deliverance Evangelistic Church (www.ndec.net) in Richmond, Virginia. The “Men of Tomorrow” Rites of Passage Mentoring Program was created by BISHOP GERALD GLENN of the New Deliverance Evangelistic Church and Elder Thomas Powell serves as the program’s Coordinator.

WRIGHT is a Founding Member of the USA 2012-2022: International Men’s Day Ten Year Plan Committee which was created in October 2012. The 2012-2022 International Men’s Day Ten Year Plan is the brainchild of MS. GENEUVIVE TWALA, the Botswana Coordinator for International Men’s Day and is, among other things, setting goals annually for a ten-year period to reduce the school drop out rate among boys and young adolescent males; violence; and the number of single family households that are struggling for survival; and to increase real-life options for boys and young adolescent males. This Plan has been adopted by the United States. Botswana and the United States will work together over the next 10 years to resolve the key challenges that prevent boys and young adolescent males from maturing into purpose-driven, productive and successful adults in our global village.

Individuals and organizations throughout Virginia that are interested in raising awareness for and participating in 2013 International Men’s Day, can contact Mrs. Odetta Wright, the 2013 International Men’s Day Coordinator by sending an e-mail to: odetta_wright@yahoo.com.
