NEW PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH POINTS TO BLOOD CLOT RISKS

LONDON, ENGLAND – According to an article co-authored by Ms. MIEKE VAN HEMELRIJICK, a Ph.D. candidate from the Division of Cancer Studies at Kings College in London, England and her colleagues from numerous Swedish research institutes which was published in the 14 April 2010 online issue of The Lancet Oncology (DOI:10.1016/S1470-2045(10)70038-3), new research indicates that prostate cancer patients may develop blood clots. The article, “Risk Of Thromboembolic Diseases In Men With Prostate Cancer: Results From The Population-Based PCBaSe Sweden” written by MS. VAN HEMELRIJICK, JAN ADOLFSSON, HANS GARMO, ANNA BILL-AXELSON, OLA BRATTA, ERIK INGELSSON, MATS LAMBE, PÄR STATTIN, and LARS HOLMBERG point out that the risk of developing blood clots are greater for prostate cancer patients who undergo hormone therapy.
