U.S. CONVENES NATIONAL CONVERSATION ON FATHERHOOD ON 5 AUGUST 2009 IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

If you have any doubts about whether or not Fathers and Fatherhood have moved to the center of America's national radar screen, perhaps you will be persuaded by the fact that The Honorable Barack H. Obama, President of the United States, is convening a National Conversation on Fatherhood in the form of a Town Hall on Wednesday, 5 August 2009 on the campus of the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

The Town Hall meeting on Fatherhood issues is being sponsored by the White House Domestic Policy Council’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families. It is anticipated that Senior White House and Administration staff will be present and speak at the event and will be joined by Fathers, Fatherhood Practitioners, and local community groups and community leaders. The National Conversation on Fatherhood was launched on Father’s Day Weekend – Friday, 19 June 2009 – with a Town Hall Meeting on Fatherhood hosted at the White House by President Obama.

Fatherhood continues to transcend boundaries.
