FROM THE ADVOCATE: JOHN D. EVANS

Oh no!
Not on my watch!
Will a parent leave
Crying
Heartbroken and
Angry
No, no!

More than instructional
We work for children
We stand with parents
We advocate for them
And we work for you

We must know
When we have failed
When we welcomed a child
When we admitted and
Began teaching a child
Making a difference
In the life of a child
Then telling that
Child to go
When they cry and beg
To stay
And you tell them no

We know the child
We know what to expect
We know what we have to do
Did we do all that we could do?
How can we say:
The child has failed
Without looking at ourselves
Who are we?

More than instructional
We work for children
We stand with parents
We advocate for them
And we work for you

Not on my watch
Will a parent leave
Crying
Heartbroken and
Angry

If nothing else
They’ll smile
Before they leave
